Rectal Bleeding in Childhood

Abstract
|
|
|
Bleeding per rectum in pediatrics is a common symptom.
Bleeding in the gastro-intestinal tract may be the result of a generalized bleeding disorder or due to some local lesion in the alimentary canal.
Ganeralized diseases which may produce in-testinal bleeding in the pediatric age group include hemorrhagic disease of the new-born, anaphylactoid purpura, thrombocytopenic purpura, scurvy, leukemia, and other blood dyscarasias.
None of these conditions produce only gastro-intestinal bleeding.
Other causes of rectal bleeding in the pediatric age group due to various local lesions in the alimentary canal may be listed.
1) Bleeding Esophageal varices.
2) Esophageal hiatus hernia.
3) Duodenal or Gastric ulcer.
4) Meckel¢¥s Diverticulum..
5) Duplication of intestine:.
6) intussusception.
7) Jeqher¢¥s symcrome.
8) hemangioma of the intestine.
9) midgut volvulus.,
10) polyps.
11) Colonic palyposis.
12) ulcerative Colitis.
13) infectious bacillary colitis.
14) Rectal Prolapse.
15) Anal fissure.
